I lived in La Mesa for about 9 years, just below Lake Murray, it is a very nice community, and I liked the close access to the freeway 8 that I had there. I'm just a few miles NW now, and like the community of Serra Mesa just as well, or better. At least here, we are in a muuch larger place, so I now can have a room just for my books/sewing/clothes/beads.. :) It's a small bedroom, already full of things, and needs organizing so I can get my sewing machine and fabric set up in there! Fortunately I have a window, and table and filing cabinet ready to go, just to get to it though, is almost a chore :)

Gram was from Springfield, and a Drummond, geneaology research there has been great, so many families and histories.
She lived in several cities over the years that I can remember,
Akron, Mechanicsburg, Cincinnati of the top of my head. Her mother was a Shuck from Gallia County.

Hey Sew Crazy Girl! I hadn't known about the next quilt show, I might be able to go, my work schedule is weekends only after Labor Day, until it cools off (Pool Monitor for a HOA) so if I have any time to go, I might.

As far as the challenge goes, last time I checked in a couple weeks ago it was only at about 112somethingK donated. Right now, 136,341 so we are in desperate need of more to meet the challenge! The site if others haven't heard of or visited is allpeoplequilt.com which I've seen mentioned here on the board somewhere.

Hey Patty Patches, I've been accused of sounding like I'm from Kentucky! Even though I'm a born and bred Southern Californian! :)

Hey Carrie Ann, love the poochie pic, hope baby behaves and doesn't chew your fabrics!!! Mine lays at my feet while I'm sorting fabric, hoping for a treat or a walk! I've got a terrier mix, that looks like an overgrown Jack Russell Terrier, but she's actually APBT I think! Or part Staffie, not sure!
