Hi from Tennessee
Hi, I'm Maude and I'm from TN. I'm very new to quilting and have enjoyed these forums enormously. I'm usually an heirloom garment type of seamstress, but my sister encouraged (actually insisted) that I try quilting and I gave it a shot. I've made one baby quilt for my new grandson and I'm finishing up my second baby quilt for a friend of my son.
I suppose I'm a little old fashioned, but the style of quilts I prefer are scrappy or earth tones. Absolutely love the civil war reproduction fabrics but haven't done anything with them yet. At the moment, my plan is to hand quilt all of my quilts. So far I love everything about it. I may be wierd, but I like the sound of the knot popping through the fabric and the feel and sound of the thread pulling through the fabrics and batting. My stitching could be more uniform, but I figure I'll improve as I go forward.

Hi Maude - I am a German quilter and love the same things you do: traditional quilts, scrappy ones, and just LOVE civil war prints! I handquilt all my quilts and like you like the sound of the thread going through the fabric. I started making quilts in 1972, so I am a bit ahead of you in numbers of quilts I made! I taught beginning patchwork for 19 years, but retired years ago and am trying now to use up all the fabric I collected over the years (a hopeless task!). This board is a great place to make friends! Greetings from Bavaria/Tyrol
