My name is Marci and live in North Texas. I started quilting 12 years ago and have given away almost everything I have finished. Like all of you (I'd venture to bet about a $100,000), I have a lot of unfinished projects and fabric I am saving for that very special quilt. I have nine children (eight boys, one girl, ages 19-6 mos.) and my current NEW project to start is a quilt for my very artsy son, who is turning 15 tomorrow. It is called "Bar Quilt." He picked out all the fabrics himself and also the pattern. Hopfully, I will finish it before he turns 16!
My mom told me about this board and the newsletter. I am always trying to find more efficient ways to baste quilts and get them actually finished.
That was a long intro. But brevity is not my strong suit. :-)

Hi, fellow Texan! I'm Joy from Rogers. I'm like you and give away most of the quilts I make, either to family or to charities and fundraisers. But wow! With nine kids, it's a wonder you ever find time to quilt at all!

Since this time thing is such an issue, it really makes sense to just set it all up and sew for 15 min. here and there. I have my strips cut for this bar quilt thingy but have to cut them into shorter strips of varying lengths. Here is a link to the simple pattern:

My plan is to cut them down tonight and start piecing tomorrow and using the "I have five minutes, let's sew" strategy. There is not time in the kinds of blocks I imagine.
