Hi from Virginia
I began quilting at at 13 with my grandmother. She showed me how to make a 9 patch and a grandmother's flower garden quilt. My first 9 patch quilt was all hand-pieced, both sides, queen sized. The grandmother's flower garden is only the size of a pillow, but I made one later for my granddaughter. I haven't made too many quilts since, mostly baby quilts.
Like many quilters, I have several UFOs. One is a Lone Star Block, that needs borders to make it a quilt top. Another I think the pattern was Flannel Cats. The block is a cat head, with ears that are part of the block above and paws part of the block below. Another was called Louisiana Gumbo - snowballs alternated with nine-patches of all different fabrics.
I'm just finishing a rainbow quilt of 24 fabrics I hand-dyed. Last year I finished a bargello heart quilt for my parents.
