I have never made a patterned quilt and have planned my own pattern I hope. I am just getting started. Merry Christmas to all.

After looking at a few pictures of what has been created I am really scared to start! I plan to do Zebra material and two different colors of leopard. My design is triangles so far. Since it is my made up pattern I really am flying loose! Thanks for talking to me! Please send pictures of your work perhaps I can get more ideas. My friends are visiting Souther Carolina for Christmas and I believe they are seeing a white Christmas. How about you? I can pass on the snow. I am a beach bunny only in my head any more. Connie

Take some time and check out the pictures section of the QB. You will find a LOT of finished project to look at there.

As for your friend in SC seeing a white Christmas - - I'm not so sure about that. I'm in the piedmont of NC - we saw very little snow this far south from the storm that passed by on Friday! It all depends on what part of SC they are in too!!

Welcome from Northern CA too! I think you will find its not as hard as you think. At least you didnt say a bunch of rounded edges (my most dreaded of all quilt pieces). Make sure you post as you go along, we love pictures of all sorts!

....and another hello from Northern CA. I'm outside of Sacramento. Whereabouts do you live? ...and yes, I can pass on the snow as well.

As for the quilt, I had a friend make one in a zig-zag pattern using triangles. She did not use cotton fabrics though and it was quite a challenge. When you do yours, just remember that you will be handling your pieces on the bias. That's the real stretchy side and gets easily distorted. You may want to starch your fabric to give it a little extra body and you should be just fine.

    Hello and Welcome :D:D:D
I can't wait to see your design and your quilt!!
Starch your fabrics pretty stiff when working with triangles and it helps make those bia edges behave

Bias edges are the ones that are cut on a diagonal, they can get wonky like MadQuilter described.

Hi and welcome from Ohio. We had snow Sat. Mon. and today. Very pretty. I love a white Christmas, but beaches are great.
