I guess I better say Howdy!

I've been lurking for awhile, intending to introduce myself but just never seemed to take the time. Now that I've joined the Midget Block Swap I thought I better chime in!
I'm 56 and have been sewing since I was 6, making my own play clothes from about 9...yes, my Mother was also a seamstress. I started quilting in the mid 70's, before such things as rotary cutters. The lady that taught me to piece insisted a 'real' quilt was done completely by hand. And for lots of techniques that's how I still do it. Maybe one of these days I'll catch up to new techniques.
I started my quilt shop sort of by accident for the convenience of our quilting bee, we were tired of having to drive to Houston for the 'good' quilting needles and thread. Before the year was out I had a full blown quilt shop! It was great fun for about 8 years, but I admit I do miss teaching.
My piecing and quilting now is more for fun than entering in shows. I know I certainly enjoy it more! I confess to being a recovering perfectionist but I promise I'm getting better!
