Hello, welcome and happy quilting from Germany!
Although I am an avid hand quilter I can't help you with thimbles because I don't use one at all. But when you try the search function here on the board you will find different threads about this topic.

try several thimbles until you find one that you are comfortable using. Different thimbles feel different and some are easier to use. It is a personal preference, I have used several. the ones with the open end works the best for me, I finally bought one from the thimblelady, It was high cost but I figure it will be the only one I will ever need. she also has some that are cost effective.Welcome from North Carolina
