I want to give it a go...

The Janome 6600 is also the machine that I have. I love it. It does everything I want a machine to do. It has the up down needle position, automatic needle threader, the machine cuts the thread with the push of a button. It anchors stitches with the push of a button, it is absolutely fantastic for quilting, as it has a dual feed feature that always keeps the back from puckering. I could go on and on. It is a super machine.

I've ordered my Janome 6600P and the shop has agreed to give me reasonable trade in - so all up, I'm excited.
This machine has been reduced from $2999 to $1999 here in Australia - I think it's because the new horizon has superceded it - love that new 7700QCP but at $3600 it's out of the question - well, maybe after I've become a competent quilter, yes!

Mal, welcome from Melbourne. There is an absolute wealth of knowledge on this board, and there are a few men who quilt on the board.
Lostn51, screwystewy - I know there are others - are the only two who are coming to mind.
Thanks for the heads up on the Janome. I may have to go and have a sticky beak at our local dealer. . . this site is way too focused on enabling :)
I recall that Newcastle library has a good shelf of quilting books and lots of magazines on quilting. My quilting friend used to live there, and I remember her borrowing a few, that was about 8 years ago.
Cheers

Oma66 - I googled Ricky Tims.
His work is fantastic.
I wonder if his quilts are generally the same or of similar sizes? I ask this cause I imagine his work is generally displayed on a wall as opposed to being used on a bed.
Do you have any idea?
