In this area, it's quite expensive to send quilts to a LAQ. Be sure the machine you buy has a really big area between the needle and the part on the right. You will need the space if you quilt larger quilts. I'm not explaining this very well - maybe someone else can. Best of luck.

Welcome from Louisiana! Glad you got your machine. I'd suggest starting with an Eleanor Burns pattern, you can't go wrong with her directions. Best of luck!

    I so agree! I bought a Long-Arm before I was a long-arm quilter. I don't regret it.

    :)

Hi from Ms. With the type of sewing you've already done, you will find quilting quite easy. I can't sew clothes, never had a sewing lesson, just bought a machine to make quilts to replace
the ones made by my grandmother that dry-rotted. With your experience, it should be a breeze.

Ms Sweet, I googled Eleanor and have watched some of her videos; "bostom commons" and "delectable mountains" quilt tutorials - she's amazing and this stuff is freely available. I'm so appreciative that you shared this with me. Thank you very much! Can't wait to get into a delectable mountains or boston commons.

I think these projects are probably a bit adventurous, but I'm willing to give it a go.

LeonMom, excuse my ignorance but what is a long-arm. I'm pretty new to this and the term is way beyond my knowledge!

Welcome from Tennessee. I say if you have the money go for it. Buy what you want. I want the Janome Horizon but at this time I have too many needy kids and grandkids. So I will just use the machine I have.

Find a local quilt shop that sells Janome machines. They sometime will do trade-ins for your old Janome.
