Introducing Myself
Hi Everyone. I've been lurking on this site for a long time, and finally decided it's time to join you! I made the Dresden Plate variation that George from Cross Country Quilting posted last week. In fact, this is the site where I saw his beautiful work and decided to give him a try. Doesn't he do wonders with his long arm machine! This post is mixed with much sadness for me. The dresden plates were given to me by a friend, waiting until I found just the right inspiration to mount them and put them together. The quilt is due to arrive back at my home today from George, and in this morning's paper I saw the death of the lady who made the plates. She had a massive stroke on Saturday, so this will be a Memorial Quilt in her memory.
She was only 73 and had made and long-armed hundreds of quilts.

Welcome to the QB from NY state! I'm glad you finally bit the bullet and decided to join in! I'm sorry about the passing of your friend. Did she know that you were working on the dresden plates she gave you prior to her passing? If not, it's perfect timing. It will be a great way for you to remember her. If she did, then she knew she gifted them to the right person! Enjoy your time on the QB.

Welcome! Most of us started as lurkers. I continue to be inspired and learn from those on this board. Sorry for the passing of the maker. Every quilt teaches us something special about ourselves and others that crossed our path and made us better.
