Hi Mona,
Welcome from So Cal. I am a beginner like you (one year quilting) but i have learned my lesson not to buy exactly how much my quilt pattern needs. I have done mistakes along the way and when i went to buy the same fabric it was gone  so i had to either take some parts or change the whole size of the quilt (forget about the disappointment of course), so just add little bit of yardage to whatever the quilt pattern tells you and you can use it as scraps in other quilts.
Have fun and good luck.

Thanks everyone! I followed all of the advice! I went to Missouri tutorials and saved as a fav. even though I havent had time to look at them yet. I also went to the library and got alot of books on quilting and bought material. Now I just need to have time to do the stuff but hey, I need to be patient. I saw a Youtube video about a woman in Texas I believe who is blind and quilts beautifully with appliques and all! What an inspiration and so there IS hope for me. haha Have a good day all from Mona in Ohio!
