My mom bought that machine brand new - the salesman sold her on it when he sewed right through a wooden ruler without so much as a hiccup! I now own that machine as mom no longer sews. It's still going strong!

Mary Hi and welcome from AZ. I have a friend who is going to send me an older Kenmore work horse of a machine too and I can hardly wait to play with it! You may also be able to get this information from Sears Repair service center. Good luck finding your answer. :-D :-D

At one point I discovered a chart there for dating the machines, but seem to have misplaced the bookmark, sorry. (Not the best on computers. ) There are all kinds of attachments available for the machine - the box that was with this machine (box labeled sears - attachments labeled greist) includes a binder, hemming foot, seam guage, edge stitcher, ruffler, and some other things I haven't fully identified. Have fun experimenting! You will love your new machine. And be sure to join the crew in the vintage sewing machine shop. You can learn a lot about older machines there.

I have a straight, low shank.
My manuel doesn't say high or low, but it is mearsured by the length of the shaft after the screw. Hope this helps.
