I've never ventured onto a board. I'm not sure how this works but will get the hang of it. I live in Alaska and am retired for now. I sew most days. Today I'm making a tweed hat for my husband and some knit fabric scarves. Mim, I had splitting nails until I had my thyrod removed. Not doctors couldn't tell me why this happens. I hate the "your getting older" answer.

Hello and welcome from Tennessee, you will get the hang of it just stick around. It is a really a nice bunch of folks here and so creative, you will have fun and be like the rest of us and spend alot of time here. I also hate the "your getting older" answer. I have splitting skin if I sew alot. Use alot of beeswax to help.

Welcome, kmalone. I think you'll like this site. I've found a lot of projects and help from everyone, although I haven't seen comments from anyone actually making a hat. Sounds tough. What kind are you making?

Welcome from Wisconsin!! You will love it here. This is my first board too. I'm afraid to find another one. reason? #1 It won't be as friendly as this one. #2 If it is half as good as this one I won't ever get anything done!!
