Hello and welcome from southern Louisiana. Janome is a good machine. I happen to have the Memory Craft 9700 embroidery machine that I use for quilting also. I love it. You don't have to spend a lot of money on a machine to quilt. I suggest that you just look around until you find something you really like.

Hi again. Sew Mama Sew website has info on buying a sewing machine. They don't tell you what brand to buy but rather help you decide what you will need. Check it out to see if it will help. Good luck.

Welcome, I'm new from NC too.

What is your price range? That will help narrow in on recommendations.
I've been using a Janome 6019QC for 8 years, but there is competition in my house for our only good machine with an aspiring 13yo seamstress, so my husband is looking at the Janome Horizon 7700.
