I've been on here for a bit now and I suppose it's time I go ahead and introduce myself.

My name's Kelsi and I'm from just about the dead center of Iowa. I just graduated from Iowa State University a few weeks ago.........lucky me my parents gave me my choice of sewing machine for a graduation gift! I have a temporary job helping to make transportation maps, but am continuously looking for something more permanent.

My mother likes to say that I've always had some kind of thread in my hand, wether string or fabric. Even though my mother can't knit she taught me when I was 5. My biological grandmother tried to teach me to crochet but I fail at that. From friendship bracelts to quilting I love it all!

I'm really glad I found this site when I was searching for sewing machine advice. Now that I don't have homework I hope to have more time to quilt and everything thing here is a great source!

    -Kelsi-

Hi Kelsi welcome to the board! I am in SE Iowa about 50 miles north of the Missouri border.

But we spend a lot of time in Iowa City and my youngest and his family are moving up around North Liberty this week or next. So we will be seeing more of Central Iowa I suppose.

Glad to have another Iowan on here!! You will enjoy it I know!!

I spent a lot of time in Iowa City just after I was born, i.e. in the hospital. Other than that my friend who lived there has since moved to Arizona and her house has become a favorite travel destination. :D

Fiance and I will probably be moving down to the Des Moines area next year, almost starting to regret not doing that this year.

Last summer I worked in NY, lived alone and didn't really have any friends out there, so I hand pieced and quilted a queen size quilt. It was originally going to be a post stamp quilt but that didn't quite turn out to be the case. The center of it is my avatar picture. I'll put up a picture of the finished product.

Above is the link to my most recent qult in progress.

I'm doing a set of blocks for the Black and White swap.

A good friend of mine is having her first baby, so I'm starting to make plans for a quilt for her.
