I am new at machine quilting and haven't had any formal classes yet. I plan to take some after the first of the new year.

I bought 2 yards of fleece with my son-in-law's favorite team logo on it and would like to make him a blanket.

Will you kind ladies please give me suggestions? I'd like to make something simple, with a binding.

A photo of the fleece I have is attached.

I welcome any suggestions/directions you may have.

    Thank you.

I quilt mine with two layers of fleece. I don't bind mine though, I use the wavy rotary cutter and trim the edges.

Thanks, Sadie! I like that idea! I looked up wavy rotary cutter and it looks like I can use the wavy blade in my 45 mm rotary cutter. I have a nice stainless steel cutter given me by a friend.

Your suggestion sounds really good. Thanks again.

Thanks! My daughter married a TN boy 15 years ago and is very happy. I love it there when we visit! Maybe someday we'll live there, too.

Thanks for the welcome - that means alot to me!

I smooth my two layers together with one cut 1+ inches bigger on all sides. I bring that over the edge for binding. Makes a very nice finished edge. The corners are not fun to fold, but not too hard. Let me know if you want more directions. I stitched these corners more than usual as this is for an active two year old. The only other blanket that's finished so far is camouflage and it's not pretty!

When it's washed, that cut edge softens and disappears. Just looks like a binding.

front and back of corner - excuse the dog hair!

I like the idea of quilting 2 layers of fleece. never thought of that. I did make tops out of old jeans and used fleece to back them. they are a big hit with my kids and their friends all want one!
