Rob - I can't identify it, but its gorgeous! Lucky you to have such a treasure in the family. Perhaps a museum or quilt evaluator can tell you more. Diane Leone (quilter and writer of quilt books) used to do evaluations for insurance purposes. It looks in really good condition, and you already seem to have a good history - write down what you know for future generations! I think you have an heirloom there!

This is another of the family quilts, made by my gg-grandmother during the Civil War in a pattern she called 'Confederate Star.' It is not in as good condition as the Railroad quilt, having had a tough time during the war years. The family evacuated northern Louisiana for Texas after the city of Vicksburg fell. When crossing the Red River at Shreveport the wagon overturned, spilling its contents into the river. The quilt was recovered and still shows a reddish tinge.

Hi Rob!
I'm an antique quilt owner and lover but none of mine are from family as nobody in my family quilted.
Your quilt looks like King's Crown, or a variation of. It's stunning, as is the other one.
Can you show us more! I for one am in love with them!
So glad you have such treasures.
Welcome to the board!!
I'm going to go through some things I have and maybe come up with the exact name of it. I'm fuzzy at the moment lol :D

Rob, Try contacting Barbara Brachman. She's a very well respected quilt historian who can probably help you identify the names of your quilts. Here's the link

Hello Rob, welcome from Nebraska. You might consider contacting the International Quilt Study Center at the University of Nebraska. I'm sure they have more than enough qualified people there that would be able to name your quilts. The patterns are spectacular and the condition of them is excellent. What a treasure you have in them. Good Luck with your identification of them. Thank you for sharing them, I too am in love with antique quilts!
