Welcome from western PA where we have already had our first snow of the year!
I'm sure you'll love your Gammill. I upgraded to Gammill after having a big piece of junk of a machine for about a year. It was a happy day for me when I got rid of that thing!
I recently took a machine maintenance class, very reasonable price of $65.00 It covers minor repairs and replacement of parts. My dealer is over 200 miles away (Touch of Thread, Zanesville, OH), and I thought it would be very useful to know more than how to thread and oil it. Soooo, if you have access to a similar class, I would definitely recommend it.
Do you plan to quilt for profit? I sort of fell into that category. I stay busy enough to keep me going, but not "crazy" busy, and I like it that way. I have 11 here to quilt, finished 3 over the weekend. I'm sure it will get busier during November and early December, but DH knows how to do laundry and simple housework and doesn't mind frozen dinners!!!
Have fun with your new fantastic toy! If there are any questions I can answer for you, feel free to ask.

Hello from south Mississippi, I have a Gambill longarm machine that my brother bought me that was used. It is on a 14" frame and I named her "Flowing Stitch" but call her Flo. I have had Flo for three years now and she and I are get buddies and have lots of fun together. I buy thread from www.longcreekmills.com, he had good thread at a great price.
Just not too many colors in the quilting to chose from.
I also use Gutterman from out local Hancocks but it's really expensive so I wait for a sale. I have quilted some for money but mostly I do all of my own and a friend. Her husband worked on Flo when needed for nothing so I do her quilting for nothing. I'm learning to work on it myself.
I usually get us early in the mornings before work and quilt. Then once I get home I have time to sew.

    take care and HAPPY QUILTING

    Regina

Atlantathread.com has good prices on quilting and sewing thread. They ship same day they receive order and actually, this month have free shipping. They are the only source I use now, after having tried a half dozen or so other places.
