Hi and welcome from rural S.W. Ontario, about 1.5 hours away from you. Have fun looking and shopping for a new machine. Some features I like are needle up/down, walking foot, 1/4 foot, darning foot for free motion, ability to easily drop the feed dogs for freemotion quilting, auto thread cutter, and auto needle threader. I favour Janomes because they have those features and a lot more in reasonably priced machines and also because I have a terrific Janome dealer in Stratford Ontario along with a great repair guy. They are always able to help me and that means a lot. So, take a shopping list of features you're interested in and find a good local dealer.

One thing that I just remembered ... when I purchased my machine, Triangle offered a FULL $$ trade-in value if I decided to switch machines within in the first year.
I'm sure not many dealers/stores will offer that. It gave me the security that if I bought wrong, that I'd not have to regret it.
Good Luck!

Hi Tammy from Simcoe, Ontario. I totally agree with the recommendation to visit Triangle Sewing Center in Guelph - nice family-owned business where I bought my Bernina 440 almost two years ago. Their in-store servicing is the greatest and well worth the one-hour-plus drive for me to get there. More brands and kinds of thread than I have ever seen in one place!

Welcome from Maidstone, just outside of Windsor. You could also try Oakville Sewing Centre in (where else) Oakville. They have Janome and Berninas and often have gently used and floor models available. I got my Bernina 440 from them about 5 years ago. Make sure to try out any machine you like and don't buy the first one you see. LOL
Good luck.
Good luck.

At Triangle you get to take the course about your machine as many times as you want. They break it into 3 (or 4?) half day sessions and cover just about anything and everything. Yes, all FREE!!! :)
