Hello from New Mexico, I am new to the board. I cannot seem to find a good cutter the blades wear out quickly. Here in the southwest, the closet fabric place is Wal-mart. This store has a huge selection of fabric. If I want to go to fabric store, you have to travel 2 hours to Las Cruces to either Hobby Lobby or Johann's. Both places are expensive. The only internet I have is at work. So, I go online when I go on break. I live in a very rural area and the internet is not cheap. Happy quilting.

I love my fiskar thread snips and I love my mini iron and small iron board/cutting board combo. It sits on my sewing table next to my machines.
I'm crazy about color, so I enjoy low immersion dyeing my muslin fabric.
I really like modern quilts and especially landscape quilts. I enjoy an artsy quilting magazine called Quilting Arts--there is also a program on PBS by the same people. I record it on my VCR, along with Fresh Quilting.
You might enjoy those for inspiration; especially with a background in art.
Welcome from a very snowy KY

Welcome from North Carolina. You well need a good rotary cutter and board, seam ripper, bunches of fabric and free time. I can't help at all with the organization stuff. My stash overflows everywhere! Most important: Have fun!!
