Default new to quilting. hello everyone from Oklahoma

Hello dear quilting enthusists. I am new to this addiction called quilting. So much to learn. So much to try. I am a painter so i know there is no such thing as perfection, and it doesnt always work out the first time. It is so expensive to get the good fabrics. Please feel free to share your ideas with me. I am open to suggestions. What is your favorite sewing tool?

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I buy on sale here in Canada as fabric is expensive. A lot buy online for better prices.

welcome, Sherryj, from Florida. Favorite tool? whew, that's a toughie, so many...besides
dsmachine and my playroom, I do love having the carpenter's square I bought at Lowe's for
making sure my big blocks and quilts are accurate. I love "good" techniques as much as tools.
Rhonda W has a great tute for squares in squares on here. I'll never make them any other way .

favorite tool is the rotary cutter. i have one that will close the blade back in when I'm not gripping the handle. good if you ever drop it on your foot!! good rulers are a must too as is a good cutting mat.

Welcome to the board! I buy most of my fabric online. My best ideas come from Youtube. Can't think of a favorite tool off the top of my head. I have many!

I can't think of a favorite tool. I love my rotary cutter and mat as well as my Bernina machine. Welcome from the beautiful mountains of western NC.

Welcome from S. California! Favorite tool: Seam ripper. Invest in a good, sturdy one or two... Lol! Since you asked, my advice is to attempt to stay organized from the get-go. Invest in room organizers such as fabric boards (comic boards or mini bolt holders or material to make your own concept of one), thread cases, sewing basket, good set of fabric scissors (and don't use for anything non-fabric). Do not buy cheaply made thread or machine needles...or sewing tools for that matter. And above all, read and search thru the threads on this board regarding any subject matter. Those before you have traveled the same path and can save you money, time, and many headaches. Believe me!

    Hello and welcome from Washington.
A favorite tool? Several~ my Olfa cutting mat (24x36) and Olfa rotary cutter, Omnigrid rulers, are at top of the list. Also, a good pair of scissors (for fabric only), and plenty of lighting. And have fun on your journey!
