Hi and Welcome from Ohio. This is probably a dumb question but do you sew while the 5th wheel is moving? I'm asking because my DH and I want to buy a motor home and I want to be able to quilt on the road. Thanks

Welcome and I envy your traveling around in a motor home- I would love to just take off and go ! Though I have to work for another 25+ years before I can retire :-D
Can't wait to see your quilts and some places you travel if you wouldn't mind!

remember 'home ec' in high school? that first skirt was a disaster and i had to wear it! i did some some of my children's clothes when they were little. beyond that no sewing.

    Hello,
in a fifth wheel you are not allowed to be inside (in most states) while it is in motion. also, there is no room when the sides are closed up--we have 3 of them. most likely in a motor home you won't be sewing (machine) as you are going down the road. i do hand sewing while my dh is driving.

what a learning experience, i wasted my time using wal-mart fabric only to find out i can't get what i need everywhere.
tried machine quilting on my Janome Memory Craft 4900 and found out it's tough to do.
my husband and i are retired and traveling around the country so i never have time to stop and take a class anywhere :( this would probably help a lot
i pick up a lot of books at the library and use the web.
are there any other 62 year old newbies out there?

It's called retirement for a reason, you no longer have to rush around to anywhere! check out classes along the route you are traveling, see if husband can find something to interest him for a couple of hours.....you will really enjoy the classes.
