I like your signature quote:) And ys, I did discover a great supply of fabrics from old men's shirts I found at the local Good will!

Can't wait to see some of your work. Look for books on scrappy quilts. They are great on a tight budget. Take donations of fabrics from friends and family. Even old clothes can be turned into quilts.

    Welcome!!

There are a lot of ways to quilt on a shoe string. Check garage sales and thrift shops for fabric -- both old clothes and yardage. I have also found some great quilting books at garage sales, thrift stores and used book stores (but I only bought these after I knew what authors are best). For good basic instruction, no one can beat Eleanor burns books -- she really takes things step by step and you can frequently find her older books cheap.

Welcome from East Tennessee. You'll fine lots of information here on the board and people willing to answer pretty much any question you might have. Fons and Porter have an excellent book that deals with quilting basics. Last time I checked, it was available in a 3-ring binder format so that you could add your own notes as you learned.
