Thank you helou. I was military but only for 4 years. You are so right about being able to settle down. I hope to get quilts made for my granddaughters before the year is out. Still working on the sewing room and plan to see what others have done for ideas on what I might be able to do. My husband just gifted me with a Accuquilt Go and this weekend if I don't end up being called in will play with this. My only and first quilt was hand quilted, loved working on it and when finished was at a lost. It was like my evening ritual lol. Just so glad I found this board and will be checking out all I can.

my only and firs quilt was handquilted also. I retired in 2003, did my last move in 2004 and finally got settled in a place I wished to call home for more than a couple of years... and I am still here wow a record for me to live in the same place for more than 3 ou 4 years. I took a quilting class in 2006 for small projects like placemats, pot holders and I learn a few different easy pattern and from there I decided to try to make different blocks which ended in my first quilt which is my avatar... slowly handquilting to get the practice. I am handquilting my second one and I started to piece my third one... No rush just fun and enjoyment... I guess that's what I want my retirement to be. a little at a time can go a long way!
