Default Newb from Northern MI Hello Quilters!

Hi My name's Paulette. Glad to meet you all .. what a busy forum! I just got back into quilting again recently..I replaced everything I once quilted with with new.. my machine's a brother 6000i or something like that.. a cheapie.. well I'm almost done with the twelfth row sewing the squares together on a flannel 'rag' quilt and the walking foot that came with the machine is NOW CLUNKING! so that's how I found you all.. I never had this trouble with the, I think it was a SINGER walking foot.. so question is.. is this the old rhetorical.. question.. 'you get what you pay for?? everything seems to be in place.. But then I never WAS a sewing machine mechanic!!Well anyway the quilt is coming together or WAS coming together pretty nice.. until this walking foot starts this rude clunking!! CRAP!!! Hate it when this happens! so maybe it's just a junk walking foot and all I need to do is go buy another one at the store 35miles away?? Arrghhh. It's how I found you all.. trying to google 'trouble shooting walking feet'.. Didn't learn a darn thing!

Nice to meet you all.. sorry I'm a wreck.. have 5 rag quilts I was hoping to make by Christmas.. what was I THINKING??

    Paulette..

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Has the walking foot been working fine and is just now acting up? Mine started making a squeaky sound and I put a little drop of machine oil on the moving parts.

Welcome from Adrian, MI ~at the other end of the state ~ check your walking foot over to make sure lint is not the problem in it or maybe your machine.

Hi from south of Alpena...sunrise side LOL, I have ruined 2 walking feet by going in reverse...they are not made for that...the gears if you watch go forward...a machine repair guy pointed this out to me...they are not cheap LOL

Welcome from S CA. Check for lint, and maybe give a drop of oil on moving parts as suggested. I was not aware of not going in reverse with the walking foot thank you so much for the heads up on that LindaR!
