Welcome from Louisiana! I always wished I had a DD to sew with and my GD lives too far away. I'm so glad you've taken the plunge With a wonderful pastime. My DH is retired from the Army and I've sewn many patches on his and others' uniforms. I even cut up worn out BDUs to make pillows for him to take to the field with him - I just pitched them when they got too nasty and made new ones!

See if there is a local Project Linus in your area. They have workshops and kits; I have learned so many things since joining this wonderful group of quilters. They are so helpful and most are willing to mentor a new quilter.

So I read one of the posts that your mom put on here. Don't worry you aren't the only young one on here. I'm 23. :) So I might be a bit older than you but not much. I also just joined. Anyways good luck with things. Everyone on here seems very very very nice and very very very helpful.
