Hi I am new here and I am getting ready to start the sew along on the Tula Pink Butterfly Quilt with Pat Sloan on her YouTube channel starting the 29th of this month so i am getting all my stuff ready and I as I was looking at the pattern i thought I wonder if i could use foundation paper (like triangles on a roll and the log cabin, flying geese not sure if there are other ones that can be used ) is there someone that could please help me with figuring out what sizes of these papers I will need and if there are any other acrylic templets or paper I can use that might help me with this Thank you for all the future help

I would look on line for a kit and see if it has the size of papers you need. It’s difficult to say which size you need or if you need a special ruler. If you are a new quilter my advice would be to start with an easier pattern.

There are papers to size the HST or you can work through this method. You will need to adjust the square size for the pattern. This shows the technique for a 3 inch HST.

I over-sized LC blocks and then trimmed down to size as I sewed. Be sure to starch and press fabrics before starting the blocks. Check your seams for accuracy so the blocks finish at the correct size. This is an intense pattern but just follow each step for each block. Good luck!

Look on Facebook for a group of Tula Pink quilters. Seems every designer has a group that forms when sewing a particular pattern. There will be plenty of tips from those who are making or has made the pattern.
