Welcome. If you live anywhere near the Sacramento/Auburn areas contact me. We have a small group that gets together once a month and we think we are wonderful (I KNOW all the others are!).
I have a Janome 6600 and I have used it for quilting all my quilts. Have to say, I'm not a fantastic "quilter" but I have done a couple of fantastic quilts in my life (did I mention I also am very modest?). But I'm not into the fabulous designs that others like to use. Appreciate, but don't do. |
Welcome from another southern Californian! I own a Janome and love mine as well. I don't consider myself an expert at FMQ but have done a few practice blocks with the Janome and it handles it well.

Welcome from Northern California. I have a Janome 6600 and I LOVE it. I am new to sewing and quilting and this makes it easy. Good luck.

Here are some links of quilts I made and quilted on my Janome 6500 over the last 1 1/2 year or so. I set the setting to mode 2 quilting, do NOT drop the feed dogs, use machinger quilting glowes, Schmetz top stitch needle 90/14, use Aurafil thread both in the top and bottom. The quilts were marked with crayola washable markers and washed after quilting in my front loader machine 2-3 times.
The Janome 6500 is the fore runner of the Janome 7700 and the Horizon. I have owned it for 8 1/2 years and have sewn on it nearly daily. I had some problems originally but a repairman brought the bobbin area up and that took care of it. Also I find it a thread snob and it is happiest with Aurafil. I also own a Janome embroider machine but it was only used for quilting and we own a Janome mechanical machine, kind of like a school sewing machine and Janome Jem Silver, 3/4 machine. The Janome Jem silver is a great little machine and quilts very nice and easier then the Janome 6500. The opening is very restrictive on the Janome Jem silver though because it is a 3/4 size machine. http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...4-t173170.html http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...p-t101630.html http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...ne-t94447.html http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...e-t191035.html http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t195322.html Welcome to the board. I hope my pictures encourage you. I am now learning to machine quilt on a long arm. |
