Hello NEW to the Group
Hello There everyone. I have recently started quilting again after moving here to Arizona. So far I only have made many rag quilts, and a couple rail fence quilts. I have such a GREAT desire to learn about making regular quilts and learn how to free-motion. I have a Pfaff 2027 and a Pfaff 7530 I have recently inherited. I have been watching many you tube video to teach myself. I take care of my former mother-in-law who has severe Alzheimers so I am unable to go to classes. I'm wondering how many of you like paper piecing over rotary cutting...I want to learn paper piecing since I sometimes struggle with getting my triangles and other things straight. I have several questions regarding What is you favorite mat, quilt pattern, and machine.

Welcome to the board...a very helpful place! You will find answers to many of your questions! I don't paper piece yet, so I have to go on the rotary and applique side of the chart. There are many who do PP so I am sure you will get a lot of input!

Welcome. You a saint to care for your mother in law. Paper piecing can be fun. I have done it, but only small projects.
Check into "Crafty" on line classes. You do them at your pace. Missouri Star Quilt Co. is also very helpful. Let us know how you are progressing. |
Welcome, from NorCal!
I'm new to quilting and so can't offer any advice , but I also have been spending lots of time on you tube. |
Welcome from Ontario, Canada. My favourite mats are Olfa, I use Omnigrid rulers and Olfa rotary cutter. These are what was available when I started quilting. There are other good brands available now if you check in your local quilt shop or sewing centers. The many wonderful videos done by the Missouri Star Quilt co. Will give you a good start on quilting projects. I like both regular piecing and paper piecing depending on the project.

Welcome! I love paper piecing! I find it is a little more labor intensive but absolutely worth the effort. Perfect points and straight lines everytime! I taught myself to paper piece by watching you tube videos. Google is your friend!
