This winter I plan to do a lot more quilting than in the past. When I was working 10 hours a day there wasn't much time for it. I usually machine piece and then have my quilts machine quilted but plan to do some hand quilting this year. I have done a little but want to get better at it. I love the old time patterns and quilting the best. Now if I can just get started on something. I love looking at the ideas on this site and I think that will get me going.
Happy Quilting to all

Hi Lois, Welcome from a fellow West Virginian. I live a couple of hours east of you. Have you been to the little quilt shop in Harrisville called Pieces of the Past. It is a great little shop. I go to North Bend State Park regularly in September for a painting retreat and try to visit that shop while I am there. I think you will enjoy the board and find a lot of encouragement and inspiration to quilt.

I love Pieces of the Past! We vacation at North Bend and love it too. My husband says he's not sure if it's the quilt shop or the park I love the most!

I haven't been to that shop yet but maybe in the spring. I think it would be a nice little drive for me and my dad. He had a stroke in May this year and I have been at home with him since then. He loves to get out and go. A friend in my quilting group has told me about the shop and she loves it.

Hello and welcome from central Alabama. I'm self taught, too. I think we can be more "free spirits" that way.

I too was born in West Virginia. Charleston to be specific. I come from a long line of quilters from the Beckley area. Too bad I wasn't interested in quilting when they were all still around. I live in Colorado now, by way of Seattle. Welcome to the board, I hope you find the great folks that I have found.
