Welcome from sunny Southern California. I am still learning new things, getting better on the computer and ordering fabric online. If you can manage it, when fabric is delivered it's like a delightful present.

Welcome to the QB from SE Michigan! I rarely go into a brick and mortar store. I buy most of my fabrics on line. I use mostly fabric.com and another is Marshall Dry Goods. Handcock of Paducah is also a great place. All sell LQS quality fabrics. Like you, LQS's are far and few between around here. I don't drive far from home and not at night at all.
You will always be the right age to start on a quilting adventure! Believe me you are not alone. I have seen a number of newbies come here at every age learning for the first time how to quilt. Jump in and join the fun, ask all the questions you want and in most cases there is someone that can help you along. Become familiar with your way around the site and just have fun. Quilting is always meant to be fun and inspiring. Some times a challenge but always fun. Again welcome to the QB.

Welcome from northern Arizona. Wishing you well and hoping you can get sewing soon. Maybe if you reached out to neighbors or local quilting guild, they would help you with getting you some fabrics.

I don't know too much about computers either but I have learned how to order patterns and fabrics on line and it is just like getting a Christmas gift in the mail when my packages come. You are never too old to learn so "you go girl" and enjoy.

Welcome from the Florida Heartland. I consider 70 to be young. I am 83 years old and I am still taking classes and learning easier ways to quilt. Quilting is a great way to get your mind off of everyday problems. It has certainly helped me during this time of the virus. My husband and I were very active and now we go to the grocery store, and drive-through Walgreens for meds and use the bank drive-through. Quilting saves my sanity and gives me a purpose for each day. I think you will really enjoy this board and I hope you learn as much as I have from all of the fabulous quilters willing to help one another.

Welcome from South Louisiana. I Googled your description Feed dogs for Touch and Sew 780. There are lots of good videos and more info than you might need out there. Your part # appears to be 181843 for rubberized or 181843M for metal.

https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/fe...er-181843.aspx This one is rubberized. I have ordered from them before and was very satisfied with my order. They are very helpful over the phone. (888) 824-1192
https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/fe...r-181843m.aspx The metal one.

You have made me realize that I need to check the Feed dogs on my Golden Touch and Sew, Model 750. Haven't sewn on it in a few years. I really need to oil it up and let it run for a while. The sewingpartsonline website says all the 700 series uses the same feed dogs.

Edited to add: Amazon has several listings for Singer 181843 Feed dogs. Several are less expensive than the ones I have listed already.

Welcome, Birdlady. If you were born in 1959, I'm older than you. I think motivation is more of a determinant than age. I make mostly art quilts, no two the same and I like to learn something new with each one. In their way, they're all experiments, and they're all exciting because they're all different. I'm learning to use alcohol paints, too, and there are wonderful videos online that have taught me a lot. Maybe you have someone who could teach you a bit about the computer so you could access them. Good luck from sunny Southern California.
