Hi, I'm new to the discussions. I've been quilting for about 3 years and have a passion for hand applique (needle turn) and piecing complicated stars.
I'm crazy about bright colors, jewel tones, and batiks. Also like to piece miniatures. But I need a quilt carrying bag for my big quilts so I can take them to show and tell at the guild. I have seen one with long wooden handles that looks perfect but I could use a pattern. Any suggestions?? |

Now is when you make a big , pretty tote bag, and have straps attached to dowel rods. Sort of like a huge casserole tote. Oh, asnd welcome, too, from Ky.!!

My mom made this bag for me two yrs ago. It is called a carpet bag. It can hold 5 quilts or what ever else you want to carry. When she made the bag my dad was throwing out a broom that broke. She used the broom for the handles. Not sure about the pattern will need to ask her.

I don't know how young you are, but if you're older, you might want to try one of the rolling things they have available so you're not lugging it all over heck and gone.
I've been to a few quilt shows where you got tired walking around empty handed, let alone lugging a heavy quilt or two. That said, Babycakes, I love your mom's tote. |

There is a great quilt tote pattern in a Georgia Bonesteel book--think it is More Lap Quilting, but not positive....have all my books piled up while i re-do the sewing room....
I have made one. it holds all your stuff, including a ruler... http://www.creativequiltkits.com/urb...g-studios.html Or a free one here: http://sentimentalstitches.net/free-...uilt-patterns/ |
I have 3 Georgia Bonesteel books - I'll check them. I'd rather not go with plastic. But I love the one Babycakes' Mother made for her - the one I've seen that I like is very similar except the wood handles go all the way through tabs at the top. I will also check the websites supplied by Okiepastor. So much help. Thank you.
