Betty Ruth- am located about 50 miles southeast of O.K.C.
About 4 miles north of Seminole, but they gave us an Earlsboro adress.Where we live is on the edge of nowhere.
I am a tranplant, but I'm an Okie through and through! Had
    2 kids born in Oklahoma.

I thought this was not just the edge of nowhere, but I thought it WAS nowhere when we first came down here. The area has grown since then until there wouldn't be an acre of land vacant between here and San Antonio if it were not for a few acres that the government bought at the end of the runway at Randolph AF Base and cleared all the houses off for safety. Our oldest was just 2 when we arrived here and our daughter was born here. She says she stays lonesome for Texas and hungry for good TexMex food.

This is nowhere, there's a long ways between fabric
shops. Don't drive much anymore and DH works,so I get to
guilds once a month, thanks to him. There are more quilters
around here than a person realizes.

Your statement about getting to guild once a month when your husband takes you reminds me of my mother. Way back then it was called a quilting club, or usually just "club". Since Mom didn't drive, she depended on Dad to come in from the field to take her to club, or one of the other ladies would pick her up.She ordered her quilting supplies from Sears and Roebuck or Montgomery Wards.

Montgomery Ward, I haven't heard of that store in many years!

As for Texas, I have a non-quilting friend who lives in Castroville, which is near San Antonio from what she tells me.

I love doing the Riverwalk and Alamo in San Antonio.

I've been here 47 years and have been to the riverwalk and to the Alamo each once. Each time it was because an out of town visitor wanted to see them.

After I was on my own, I would order from another mail-order house. I believe it was Aldens. When I married, my husband insisted that I pay them off and cut up my card. That was over 50 years ago. Now, who's telling their age?

    know what it was like.
