Hello quilters. I am interested in getting some help with my Sapphire 830. It seems to work great except for the fmq. After surfing the internet, I guess this is a common problem on some of the machines. I did have it into the dealer and they couldn't fix it. Anyway, the thread keeps breaking. Am using embroidery thread (dealer recommendation) as the cotton kept breaking also and didn't seem strong enough. I have tried moving the spool around in different positions. Sometimes it helps and other times not. I did have the tension bar attachment upgrade put on to keep the thread from coming off. It does do that but still the thread ravels and breaks. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried changing needles? Sometimes if there is tiny little burr on the needle it will cut the thread.

Most likely it's the needle. Quality control on needles seems to have disappeared. I can put in a new needle and it's worthless. Have to change it again.

I would say try a new needle too. I have an 830 on a Grace Mini Pinn frame & use it with no problem. I also have a spring loaded foot on it, generic one, not the expensive on Viking makes!, & use the spring load setting on my machine for it, & it works great. So, not sure what your machine problem, but keep trying, hopefully a new needle will solve the problem!...Good luck, I love my machine! Welcome here too!
