    do your homework!!! Go to every quilt show that comes within a 200 mile radius. Test out every single machine you can wrap your hands around. Any machine is an investment and if you don't like it after you've paid for it...it ends up being a huge pain! Start with a budget and go from there...good luck!!

    Yes, you need to go to a big quilt show with lots of vendors who bring their long-arm machines and can answer all of your questions and let you operate them. Oh yes, and Welcome to the Quilting Board from Missouri.

    Welcome from OHIO! I would suggest going to a large quilt show and testing as many long arms as you can.
