My friend and I have the Janome 4120 -- I got it because of the weight so I can take it classes. My friend uses it as her only machine, but she has a long arm. One thing I know -- if you are going to make quilts and quilt them on the domestic machine, it is easier if you have a lot of space under the arm (called the harp) since when you quilt (as opposed to put the pieces together) you wind up shoving the quilt through that opening -- unless you pay someone else to do the actual quilting. I don't know about the other machines, but I would want a bigger harp than the 4120. The older Janomes -- 6500 and 6600 -- are heavier, great work horses, not super expensive and have great harp space.

Welcome to the board! Congrats on the bundle of joy!!! I'm originally from Dallas but reside in Round Rock now.
You will find lots of information here. There is a certain level of unity amongst quilters. It's a nice feeling to be on a forum that is positive. Look forward to seeing future projects of yours Mary!
