What a creative bunch we are! I've got all of my fabric cut for step two or I would try the strip method. I'm finding the chevrons tedious but they do look cute when they are done.

Jeanin: I do iron one side opposite the other so they nest. When you write out instructions it's amazing how many details you omit.

Okay here goes. I will be happy to answer any questions. I hope the pictures help. The first picture is the ruler laid out on the strip set; white (2in), yellow (2 in.) and green (1.5). Note the 45 degree line runs right along the top of the strip set. Second picture shows the 2 inch cut already made. The third shows how I cut the slice down to 3.5 by 2 inches centering the green evenly in the middle.

I forgot to mention that for the right side of the chevron you tilt the ruler to the right with the 45 degree line on the bottom of the strip set. Remember to iron one set of seams towards the center and the other to the outside. This gives you pieces that will nest very nicely. I get about 12 blocks completely finished in about 10 minutes.

Oh Emma, as I sit here sewing what seems like the 500 millionth little square on, I really wish I'd used a creative eye and come up with your idea. It seems so much more efficient and less wasteful. I feel like I'll never get out of this sewing room!

Nilla: More a matter of desperation than creativity. I tried several different ways and was not happy with the result. Jeanin posted a thread about the Semonile way of piecing, which gave me the idea. If your result is good then you've accomplished what you set out to do. Keep sewing!

Here is my fix for Clue 2, I hope, a paper piecing template made on EQ7. Previously I had sewn 6 sets, 4 were close to the 3 1/2" and two were short 1/8". I did not like the ratio that 1/3 were not going to be the correct size. The main problem will be that the pre-cut greens will be a tad short. I will test drive the PP and see how it works today.

I really like Emma's suggestion. I think I'll do mine in shorter strips - maybe 15 - 18" so I can mix them up more and keep the scrappy thing going. Thanks again, Emma!

I agree that you ladies are very clever to create a workaround that works for you.
My problem is that the bias issue. I guess it doesn't matter where the bias is as long as you keep that in mind as you sew the pieces together.
I too am using Inklingo and have to admit I was having trouble getting things to line up using Linda's quick method but when I cut apart the squares and pieced them right to the parallellegrams they were much better.
I am taking a whole lot slower than I usually sew but it will go better I think
