    Default Geez!

Finally got a pinwheel done and it looks good. I spent more time with Jack in the last hour than I care to think about. Must be having a brain freeze. Anyhow, I couldn't get a decent pinwheel so I pulled out my Accuquilt and my combo die that came with it and cut up some triangles (they are bigger, I think you end up with a 2 inch triangle). First tried squaring up the triangles to 2 inches and then make the pinwheel. Didn't work for me..too wonky. So then I just used the 2 inch triangles and then sewed the pinwheel together and it came out around 4 inch square and then I just squared it up to 3 1/2 inches. I guess I just need to go bigger! Anyway here's a picture of my pinwheel that only took one hour to make!

Well maybe not, I'm such a lazy bum
Gramamasig, when I did the dear jane quilt I had a full 8 hours into a couple of those blocks.

Unless I counted wrong I have the full 200 1/2 squares finished and 10 of the 25 pinwheels made. They sure are cute.

I don't like that green omnigrid ruler, I just can't see through that green to know where I am, but it sure is handy for a quick check on 3.5" block size! We can always find a use for our quiltie stuff can't we?

Power on gang, I love the great spirit and helpfulness of this thread, Thank you

I want to speed up but my back and shoulder starts hurting real bad, then I have to stop for awhile take my meds let them start working then continue where I left off ,but I need to try catching up with you fast ladies ,for step 2 we need 244 sets right and left sides right?. Emma when you start to cut at the 45angle where did you say you put the ruler line mark from the top or bottom line, and dose the 1 1/2strip always stay between both 2 other strips. I,m having a hard time getting the left and right angle to line up for both sides. help

Nellie: The most important thing is that your angle be straight with the green. This is so the 45 degree is accurate. I started lining up with the top or bottom but there was a resource mentioned that used the green to line up. I think this is far more accurate, and I started using it. Speaking as someone who has minor dyslexia I really know how that weird disorientation happens. Do you have a 24 X 6 ruler or at least a very large one? Line the 45 degree line up with either the top or bottom of the green across the length of the strip. Your ruler should be tilted to the right or left, now just cut your first cut. The first one is to cut the end so it shows the 45 degrees. Then making sure the line stays on the top of the green measure your two inches and cut. That gives you your first wedge. If you still need help just contact me, I will be happy to help.

Are there any accuquilt alternatives for part 2?

I haven't really started yet which seems very strange. I pulled fabric from my stash, but am at DD's in MN waiting for her first baby. I almost ordered her a Janome Jem for Christmas but it seemed a little self-serving. :-)

Nellie: Be sure and let us know how you are doing.
Finished all the clues. Now all I need is to shovel my sewing room out.

I'm not fast, am just doing the 1/2 size one

The first year I did the mystery I was bored stiff the first two clues because I was expecting so much more to do.
So I started a second one. Error.....

One is plenty and 1/2 is just right for me this year. 75" square is a pretty generous quilt size. And we don't know what the border will look like yet, if it's yummy I could upsize just with that.
