Isn't that the same as a 'disappearing nine patch'? It's one of those on my 'to do' list!

yes that is also called disappearing 9 patch (D9P)

One of my quilting friends is making two of them - one for a niece, one for a nephew - she said they are really easy - she got the top for one done in a weekend! My kind of quilt project!
