    I'm sorry you should not be using the American flag as a placemat or for anything else other than flying it properly or on a uniform. there are flag rules stating how it should be handled.

    I find the use of the American flag for anything other than what it is meant to be, offensive. There is fabric and buntings to use for this sort of thing, but not our flag.

    I was a scout leader and we taught flag etiquette to the scouts.

    Thank you both for your comments. I see to much of folks using flags against the code. We have quilt police where are the flag police??? I to was a scout leader plus my husband spent 23 years in AF.

    I agree with the above two posters. The flag should NEVER be used in this or any other way other than to "fly", or to drape a coffin of a Vet. I actually drew in my breath when I saw the scissor and the cutting.

    I totally agree. There are so many patterns and fabric out there why disrespect the flag.
