    Default Beach Ball Dresden

Jenny from Missouri Star Quilt co. just put a tutorial up on this quilt. The Dresden only uses 10 blades and makes a cute star in the middle. I might need to get the 36 degree ruler.

    here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeMzWOVY9zM
the quilt title didn't sound too appealing, but the video shows that it's kinda cute.

Oh no, not another ruler to buy. Maybe she will put it on sale or I can get it on a free shipping day. I've got so many rulers already, I thought I had a 36 degree one, but no. I'll have to get that too.

Will wait for that one but 10 blades is a lot easier than 24! Wonder if you divide a circle and add 1/4 inch to sides of

a wedge if that would work??

You don't have to buy a special dresden ruler, if you use a 15 or 18 degree ruler, you can get the same "star" in the middle if you have the point on both ends. Here's what I'm talking about: http://www.happyquiltingmelissa.com/...z-dresden.html

How can someone really afford all the gadgets that they tell, you need. I'm on a budget like so many of us. I do appreciate always if I can make it without specialty equipment.

Thank you for showing both techniques.

Love that pattern but I'm not going to buy that ruler just to make One quilt with it....have a friend making her own template to see if she can replicate it for her own purpose

I watched the video and when they made the 3 layered one it looks like it is very wasteful. Why make all three layers just like the top one, that is a lot of fabric under the top one to deal with when quilting.
It is a cute pattern but no reason to buy their special ruler.

The quilting on the show case quilt on jennys you tube of this dresden is over the top in design and execution. But I too, hate the template push.
