Big ironing board

Big ironing board
I've been quilting for 25 years and FINALLY made myself a big ironing board and am asking myself, "Why didn't you do this sooner?!" It is, by far, my favorite quilting "tool," and it was super simple to make. This is the website I found the directions on: http://www.minneapolismqg.com/2013/1...ing-board.html

My DH made me one from a leftover board, 22" X 57", screwed it directly to the ironing board. It's very sturdy and no chance of tipping over and I've put it through the mill trying to make it fail. It passed with flying colors.

I purchased one at a quilt show last year and wouldn't be without it... not only does it give me a large enough space to iron quilt tops, but it has become a valuable workspace to me. I currently have a 12" rotating mat on it as I am learning foundation piecing.

I was just telling my husband how much I love the one he recently made me. I get so much more done now. Along with being a ironing board I also use it as an extra work table to lay out and sort blocks.
If you are thinking about it go ahead and do it. You will love it.
