You know, I don't mean to sound crappy about this, but those of us who have spent LOTS of money on Craftsy classes over the years have been begging for this. Yet, they develop an app for the Roku ONLY for Unlimited subscribers. A pretty lousy way to treat all the customers who built their business from the ground up. I will think twice about giving them any more of my hard-earned dollars.

For anyone who is interested in what the Roku/Craftsy experience is like, there is minimal user control within the app. I was unable to do much more than press play. There is no choice as to what chapter of a program you are watching. Anything involving your account is still handled through your computer, which is a good thing. There is a search button. Just like Netflix or HuluPlus, there is section called "recently watched". There is a section displaying your saved list, and a section for their suggestions for you based on things you have previously viewed. When you watch a class, it is as though you are watching a video, and there no way to skip ahead to a specific chapter. If you would like for Roku to mimick the Craftsy computer experience, you are out of luck. For what it is, it is nice to be able to watch classes on television, but it is not feature-rich. It is difficult to rewind and fast-forward, and as Donna mentioned, you have to subscribe to Craftsy unlimited to use it. Hopefully Craftsy will make it more user-friendly as time goes on. I love that I can watch this on my tv. There is room for improvement. I like that it is an option to watch through my Roku, but my preference would be to still use my computer most of the time.
I Wonder if you could link your computer to your tv through your wireless. I link my phone to my tv when I’m on YouTube because searching for a specific video is so much easier on my phone than the Roku. You might try this option & see if it works.

Onebyone, I had not considered that a newer Roku would deliver a better Craftsy experience, but that makes sense. I own several different devices that stream Netflix, for example, and the interface is different for each one. We have Roku 3 boxes on 4 of our televisions and the two other tvs have Roku built right in (Smart TV). I have only tried watching Craftsy on one of the tvs with built in Roku so far. I can type in a search box to find a class too. I can re-wind and forward-wind too, but the control for that does not operate smoothly on my tv using Craftsy's app. My Rokus are 4 or 5 years old. My Smart tvs are 3 years old. Living in a digital media age, it is challenging to keep up with technology. Even if you buy the latest greatest gizmo each year, there will always be issues with something, because not every streaming service, website, app (etc.) will be current or synchronized with eveyone's everything. So based on your experience vs. my experience, it sounds as though watching Craftsy tbrough Roku would be more compatible and operate better if I had the most recently released Roku box.

Donna C., I know how you feel about all the money you put into purchasing your Craftsy classes. I have spent an embarrassing amount of money on their classes. It is only fair that they make allowances for people to watch their classes through Roku even if they don't subscribe to Unlimited. I totally agree with you.

Probably so SewingSew. LOL that sound fun to say out loud. Also there are updates if the Roku isn't too outdated, check to see if your Roku is updating automatically or manual. The stick Roku is great for the grands to use as I set it to Netflix for Kids and delete all other channels from it. No features to mess them up. I buy a new Roku box if the features change. About every two years. It really make a difference in the new channels coming out.

You've convinced me that I need a new Roku Onebyone, but I'm going to wait until the holidays roll around and look for Black Friday deals. I think I have my Roku account set up to automatically update, but I'll have to double-check. Everything else that I stream works flawlessly. I am very happy to be able to watch Craftsy on the big screen, but in all honesty, if I were working on a project from one of their classes, I would probably have it running on my computer since it is more portable.

In regard to my previous post elaborating on my Craftsy experience with the Roku app, this morning I tried watching it using one of my Roku 3 boxes and was pleasantly surprised to find that I have access to all the features that Onebyone mentioned in her post. Apparently the issue that I was having in not having access to chapters and 30 second repeat, was related to the fact that I was watching it using a Roku Smart tv. With that system, the remote control buttons that would operate chapters and 30 second repeat are, by default, used to manage the tv settings. So now I am very happy to say I am very pleased with Craftsy's new Roku app! I am like a kid in a candy store with Craftsy Unlimited. I also have a CreativeBug subscription, but their content cannot compete with Craftsy.

I agree!! I spent a lot of money on numerous classes ever since Craftsy came to be. I don't think I will purchase any more until it's equitable to those who have spent umm... hundreds. I own 54 classes! And I've been waiting for the promised Roku app. I feel like the poor stepsister in Cinderella....
