I haven't done all that testing but so far I like marking with these washable, ultra-clean markers. Like the tester, I wash ALL of my fabrics when they come in my front door. How interesting that they didn't wash out so well with fabric that had not been pre washed.

I bought some of the regular washable ones a couple of weeks ago, will be trying them out on a utility quilt. I find marking quite a challenge (I need big bold lines to follow).

I had done some of that testing with the regular washable markers. The ultra clean ones weren't out yet. I found the yellow is harder to wash out. Maybe because I use that on darker fabrics and I bear harder. I once left a quilt marked for about a year before I got to quilt it and those marks came out just fine.

Just be sure any markers you use say, 'washable.' Stick with the Crayola brand and all will be fine. I use thm a LOT, and haven't had any problem. Will look for the ultra clean ones. Haven't seen them yet.

I marked a quilt for my daughter with the Crayola Washable Markers and started quilting it. As my luck would have it my machine suddenly had tension problems and had to be repaired. I was worried that the marks would not come out after being in for over two weeks. Added a color catcher and every mark came out. Whew!!!

Thanks for the tip, as I occasionally have trouble marking my quilts and don't want the mark staying on the quilt. I prewash 99% of all fabric that goes into a quilt, another reason to prewash fabric.

Thank you! I have been hesitant to use them but will now.
