Do you have any thoughts about how rude it would be, or not, to ask Carolinapatchworks for a few of her block patterns? Probably better protocol to ask to buy them?

she sells patterns on her blog so i imagine she'll want you to pay for them.

she either did the exact DJ blocks or slight variations which you could figure them out yourself just by looking at the block from DJ (she labeled each block) and what the pic looks like.

i'm going to try and stay as original to DJ as i can and maybe change a few things just for ease or pleasure.

it really depends on the type of DJ you want to make.

if you want super scrappy you'd buy nothing but FQs.

sadly the book doesn't give any indications but the EQ DJ software would tell you down to the 1/8 of a yard what you need of each fabric you select.

if you want to do just a few colors - like i want red and white with black sashing.

i have 3 yards of red with white, i'll have to buy about 3 yards of white with red, then i have about 4 yards in the house of white on white, and i have a bolt of black.

i'm thinking to do it with the asian fabric i have thats a red background with white. i just have to find a nice asian with white background and some red.

i like the idea of east meets west and historic meets contemporary.

Her Dear Jane is very pretty. I like you idea of the red and white. Your Dear Jane is going to be beautiful. I'm going to have to follow your blog while you are making your quilt. I'm excited. This will be fun to watch. :D

What else is really amazing about the DJ she made is that she really gets the "tones" and puts together the fabrics just beautifully. I want to learn to do that...

yes, she did an excellent job with color, tone, and value. i'm sure the majority of these fabrics are from the same collection but still its very stunning.

you don't get to see many contemporary DJs.

have you seen the DJ that our guild made for the raffle this year? i forgot what thread i put it in.

Missed that - can you post it here? I'd love to see it. I was just checking out your Geisha's and they are fabulous - extraordinary actually! I didn't get a chance to post about them in that thread, hopefully make it back before they disappear.
