I have read several emails about Walmart closing their fabric departments. There were 3 Walmarts that had fabric in our area (Clearwater, FL - central of state). They apparently are closing out fabric after they updated their stores. They closed the Palm Harbor fabric dept last Sept and will be closing Old Coachman dept in Mar/Apr.

If you are looking for the Walmart QOM pattern here is the website

Here is a site that sells the fabric - not a good as Walmart has, but

Those are cool quilt patterns. Our Walmart no longer has a fabric department. So sad.

We have three Wal-Mart's in Lakeland and all the fabric has been eliminated and also in Plant City, FL.

We have about three Walmarts in our extended area that have fabric. WE have been told we are keeping our fabrics even when they do the remodel. We shall see - June is our remodel date.
As for quilt of the month. I did the Antique spools quilt design as my first quilt attempt. I made it with only 9 blocks into a wall hanging and used my own choice of fabrics. Now - I'm hooked.

What a beautiful wall hanging. Love the beautiful embellishment you added to the center spool.

Supposedly they are "suppose" to keep the fabric in the Oldsmar and NPR stores - but seeing is believing. The busiest Walmart in the country is the Pinellas Park, FL store - they never carried fabric.

So who knows. It's a shame. They do have beautiful fabric.

Thanks JuneC "What a beautiful wall hanging. Love the beautiful embellishment you added to the center spool."

The butterfly pin as well as the spool quilt is in memory of my Mother. I've since added a few other pins of hers to the center column blocks. (She was a seamstress who loved butterflies)

What a wonderful memorial to your mother.

My mom past away a year ago Jan 13th. She had alzheimer's and lived with us for the last 2 years of her life. I started quilting about 9 months ago, to help with the depression after her death. She loved sewing but with memory and eye issues she was unable to do it.

She just loved quilts - although I have done more purchasing of material than sewing - I enjoy it. Only problem I have is selecting fabrics for the quilts.

There are two Walmarts in my state that has fabrics. One is about 20 miles from me and I have been stocking up! I don't think after remodel the fabric will stay. This one has the Quilt of the Month fabrics past and present. I like the quilt of the month fabric. It's nice cotton and I made potholders with some a few years ago and they have stood being heavy washed some in bleach loads. I have no hesitation using that fabric in my quilts and it's under $3.

I know what you mean about their quilt fabric. I love it. The nicest thing about their quilt of the month is that all the fabrics are already selected - makes the job a lot easier
