Fabric Depot..
So sad to report they have announced "After 26 years in business, we are sad to announce that Fabric Depot is shutting its doors Sunday, October 21 at 5:00pm. etc..."
Such a wonderful place to shop, very knowledgeable and friendly staff, great selections, oh, I could go on forever. I'm sure when someone has asked if you know of any fabric stores on Portland, Or. Fabric Depot was one of the first you mentioned.
I grieve with you!
There is a 40% off sale until closing.

We knew it was only a matter of time. Their inventory kept shrinking, but there was always some bizarre excuse. They had to do a major repair on the roof, so they were short on cash. They made the aisles larger for ADA reasons (supposedly make it easier for wheelchairs and disabled persons). They did a reset and cut back on some fabrics in order to make room for other fabrics that never appeared. They would never admit they were struggling, even when asked outright.
Very sad, I've been shopping there for years. They had some absolutely gorgeous Italian shirting cotton once, I really wanted to make my husband a dress shirt with it but it was $30 or $35 a yard and it was a little out of my budget at the time. I've regretted that ever since.

Fabric Depot (Portland, OR) is closing :-(
The brick and mortar location for Fabric Depot in Portland, OR is closing effective 5PM on October 21st. They are having a 40% off everything sale. I'm still trying to confirm what this means for their website presence - today their website won't return anything as being available for purchase.
I live in the Seattle, WA area and even though I don't go to Portland a lot...every time I do go to Portland I spend lots of money at Fabric Depot. I am trying to determine if it's worth the 3 hour drive for one final shopping trip - I heard their stock is already pretty low....probably been preparing for the closing for some months now.

My sister just called me to tell me the store is so crammed full of people that they should close the doors to more people. She said the lines are 2 hours long. And the lady in front of her had a cart loaded higher than she is tall.
