Thanks for the post. We have a newbie quilter in our senior group and I will forward this info off to her. I have a Bernina but that must be the newer walking foot since I haven't had a chance to drill the center out of mine to have an open toe. I have tried to piece with the walking foot but just two layers of fabric doesn't work well on my 1530.

I think there maybe an error in their directions for testing accurate quarter inch. I thought that charm squares were five inches so if three are sewn together the middle one should measure 4 1/2 inches not 2.

Lovely pattern and great tutorial. I am surprised they did not do the applique first. I was taught to do the applique first and then cut down the background to the appropriate size. Is this just a matter of preference or is there a reason for the order?
