Geri,
It would depend on how you sew hand projects. It looks small. I wouldn't want to balance the table and the sewing supplies in my lap.
You could create one with a 24x18 or 24x24 cut of plywood. Cover with batting and fabric. Another option is a small table or a cart next to the sewing chair.

When working on wool appliqué or embroidery, I use a cheap bamboo serving tray with a cheap sofa pillow. The tray holds my scissors and threads and the pillow gives me a place to rest my work reducing the stress on my shoulders and neck. The pillow also acts as a temporary pincushion and you can also sew a piece of ribbon to the pillow and attach your scissors if you like. I have been using this method for so long, I don't think I could work without it now.

Thanks for the replies....I was just caught up in the moment....kind of knowing it was a bit pricey, but thought maybe.......for when I do epp, but now remember I gave two of those lap tables that seemed to be popular a few yrs back. Bigger than one at NN, pillow bottom and small led lite attached....now where did I stash them?

I have the lap desk like the one at Nancy Notions. It's adjustable and comfortable to use. I use it when I'm making hexies. A place for thread, needles and scissors. I have the cushion type lap desk too that works okay but my sewing stuff kept scattering. It's much bigger, and not adjustable. I'm glad I bought the adjustable one.

This is the one I have, I put a pin cushion with a hook and loop tape on a ribbon, and the same with a longer ribbon for my scissors, around the light stem.

I have one and love it. I use it for paper piecing, embroidery work and small quilting projects. Makes it much easier to do my epp seams with it a little higher up and I don't have to hold my arms up just rest them on the stand.

When I posted this a few minutes ago I was referring to the first picture, the lap app and not the lap table. The table to me looks like a wooden tv tray and a larger than the lap app. I like the top adjusting on the lap app. As with everything it is user preference.
