Default Libby Lehman quilts offered in auction

She is putting up for auction 50 of her quilts. Some are from her earlier years and some a few years before her stroke.

I can just imagine how much they'd go for. Years ago I went to a class she had, she had one quilt, about a throw size, it had falling leaves on it, (I think) and it was worth around 10,000 at the time. She's awesome and so is her work.

Some have a starting bid of $2,500. At least one has a starting bid of $25,000.
The article has a link to the auction site.

I hope the money raised will pay off her medical bills and any ongoing therapy and care she needs.

I was blessed to have taken a couple classes from Libby back in the day. She's a wonderful person and an awesome teacher. I hope they do well with the quilts at the auction.

I took a class from her and it was fun. Her quilts are nice but not tens of thousands of dollars nice to me. LOL I don't think the quilts are being sold to pay for medical bills. She couldn't afford the rehab facility her family wanted her to be in so they asked for donations to pay for it. Quilters donated enough to pay for her treatment.

That was 4 years ago Onebyone and I don't know that quilters donated enough to pay for all her rehab and associated bills. She only had Medicare. No supplemental. So it must have cost a fortune and I'm sure the rehab has been ongoing and would be very expensive.

Her family kept an update on the fund and Libby online at the funding site Caring Bridge. The funds were raised.

I hope she gets the minimum bid for each quilt and can appreciate the respect and love she has from all of us quilters.
